For example, the Country Sports Ireland Deer Stalking Training Course is acceptable to Coillte for any person hunting under licence on Coillte lands and also National Parks and Wildlife Service in respect of Section 42 Licence applications.
The Country Sports Ireland Large Wild Game (Deer) meat hygiene course is also recognised by the appropriate Competent Authorities throughout Ireland (Food Safety Authority of Ireland and Department of Agriculture, Food & the Marine in the Republic of Ireland) and also the Food Standards Agency Northern Ireland.
Country Sports Ireland training courses are also externally accredited by Lantra – a leading training awarding body for the land-based/countryside sector. This is important independent recognition of the quality of training and assessment delivered by Country Sports Ireland.

Demand for Country Sports Ireland training courses is often very high and places limited so booking in advance is essential. The Country Sports Ireland Deer Stalking Training Course covers all relevant topics such as deer biology & species identification, legislation, safety, ballistics & shooting performance, carcass handling & inspection, common diseases and parasites found in wild deer. The course is acceptable to Coillte for any person hunting deer under licence on Coillte lands and also acceptable to NPWS in respect of Section 42 License applications. The Country Sports Ireland DSC1 course will cover all relevant topics such as identification and ecology of 6 UK deer species, UK and NI deer & firearms legislation legislation, safety, ballistics and shooting performance. A DSC1 certificate will be issued to all those who successfully complete the course assessments. There is also a Game Meat Hygiene section of the course with a certificate also issued to all candidates who successfully complete a multiple choice paper.
